What?? What does that mean?? The word is TRANSPARENCY, a word which was used over and over again by CANDIDATE Obama last fall. Do you remember?!?!? All legislation was to be posted online for at least FIVE days before any votes so that the CITIZENS (that's us, you know, "We, The People..." as quoted in our Declaration of Independence) would be able to review important legislation and make thoughtful comment to our duly elected representatives in Congress.

NO MORE SECRET LATE NIGHT BEHIND-THE-DOOR DEALS FOR US. NO SIR! WE WOULD HAVE AN OPEN TRANSPARENT GOVERNMENT THAT WOULD ALLOW THE COMMON CITIZENS TO BE ABLE TO SEE WHAT WAS BEING DONE WITH OUR TAXES.

Sounded great, didn't it. It gave us HOPE that real CHANGE would occur. Yea, right! By the time our Congress and our President have finished spending, hand over fist, on every pet and pork project they can think of, the only HOPE we can rely on is that we may still have some spare CHANGE in our collective pockets.

Let's look at the record so far. Our congress was rushed into voting on a trillion dollar spending bill that no one had read!! It wasn't posted on the internet for five days, not the final version. The version that was voted on, and passed, was not on the internet for more that 48 hours before it became the law of the land.

Now, let's talk about the promised TRANSPARENCY. Recently, the Fox Business Network placed a Freedom of Information Act request asking the U.S. Treasury for an accounting of how the first TARP money, about $780 billion, had been spent. That request was declined by our government. So Fox went to court and the court ruled that the Treasury had to provide the requested information. Fox received a list from the Treasury that was largely blacked out for "security reasons." BULLSHIT!!!

THIS IS OUR MONEY, THE GOVERNMENT TOOK IT, SPENT IT IRRESPONSIBLY AND NOW DOESN'T WANT TO TELL US HOW THE MONEY WAS SPENT!! THIS IS BEYOND IMPERIOUS BEHAVIOR...THIS IS ILLEGAL BEHAVIOR AND IN DIRECT CONTRADICTION OF HOW OUR NEW PRESIDENT SAID THINGS WOULD BE DONE ONCE HE WAS ELECTED.

I CALL NOW UPON PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA TO BE A MAN OF HIS WORD AND TAKE CHARGE OF THIS SITUATION AND SEE THAT THE AMERICAN PUBLIC IS PROVIDED WITH AN ACCOUNTING OF WHERE OUR TAX MONEY WENT. MAN UP, BARACK, IT IS NOW TIME TO PUT UP OR SHUT UP!!

WHATCHA GONNA DO?!?!?

Some SICK Jokes

To my few but faithful blog followers,

I have been having some health problems recently and have not had much of a chance to ruminate about politics and insert any sagacious comments into your minds which might eventually germinate into a plethora of ever expanding mindfulness of the state of America at this time.

But, I did want to put something down today, so, for your entertainment, I offer the following jokes which were created while I was SICK (hence the name SICK Jokes).

1) President Obama arrives at Andrews AFB, returning home from a visit to Arkansas. When he gets off Air Force One, he carries a small pig under each arm. At the bottom of the ramp, the Marine guard salutes and says, "Nice pigs, Mr. President." President Obama looks at the young Marine and says, "Son, these are genuine Arkansas Razorback Pigs. I got them for Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid." The Marine thinks about is for a second and replies, "Good Trade, Sir!"

2) President Obama is sitting in the Oval Office when an aide comes in and says, "Mr. President, the Invisible Man is here for an appointment." The president replies, "Tell him I cannot SEE him today."

3) Do you know why the Republicans have an elephant as their mascot? The Democrats had already taken the jackass!

4) The Difference Between Republicans and Democrats.

A Republican and a Democrat were walking down the street when they came to a homeless person. The Republican gave the homeless person his business card and told him to come to his business for a job. He then took twenty dollars out of his pocket and gave it to the homeless person. The Democrat was very impressed, and when they came to another homeless person, he decided to help. He walked over to the homeless person and gave him directions to the welfare office. He then reached into the Republican's pocket and gave the homeless person fifty dollars.

I hope you have enjoyed my SICK jokes. I hope to be back to good health in the next few days and will publish something on a more serious note. In the meantime, if you want more Sick Political Jokes, I suggest you watch C-Span or CNN and look for either Nancy Pelosi or Charles Reid. Those two are about two of the sickest political jokes it has ever been my displeasure to watch.

God bless and keep the United States of America!!

Why Don't You Mind Your Own Damn Business!!

"Why don't you mind your own damn business?" This was the reply from Democratic Congressman Charles Rangel when asked by a reporter about his failure to pay tax on rental incomce. Charlie Rangel, Chair of the House Ways and Means Committee (the tax writing committee in the U.S. House) failed to report income on a summer home he's owned in the Dominican Republic for more than 20 years. Since Rep. Rangel is a "public servant" (at least in theory) then I would say that this matter IS the business of any honest taxpayer who wants to ask. Rangel's reply is just indicative of the imperious attitude that many of our Representatives and Senators, Republican and Democrat alike, have adopted while serving in Congress.

All American citizens, regardless of party affiliation, should be concerned about the evolution of our congressional "representatives" during the life span of our country so far. With their own "golden parachute" reitrement program, including fully paid health insurance for life, social security exemption, and more perks than you can shake a stick at, it would seem that being elected to the U.S. Congress could be better than hitting the lottery! Did you know that, when a congressman or senator decides to retire, any campaign funds left in his/her coffers goes with him/her into retirement as income, instead of being passed on to the political party for which the money was donated! This was not what our founding fathers intended when they established our system of government service and representation.

It is long past time to change the way our government runs in Washington, DC. We need to take the money out of the politics by eliminating lobbyists and the special interest money that they toss around like confetti. We need to establish term limits for all elected officials and thereby eliminate the term "professional politician" from our vocabulary. And, above all else, we all need to start taking more interest in how our elected "representatives" vote on issues that matter most to us. Does your senator or representative vote to represent the interests of his/her political party or the constituency that put him/her into the elective office. Far too many of our "representatives" vote the party line, even when that is not what their constituents want to do.

Our current administration and congressional representatives have already voted in several trillions of OUR dollars to bail out auto comanies, banks and other financial institutions, plus spending massive amounts on unrelated "pork" programs, even when polls have shown that the American people said NO with a solid majority.

As future spending bills come up for a vote, we need to take control of our voices in Washington, DC and let them know that we will make them pay in 2010 at the polls if they do not heed us now. Failure to do this will result in failure for America.

A quote I once heard comes to mind now: "ALL THAT EVIL NEEDS TO SUCCEED IS FOR GOOD MEN TO DO NOTHING." As good men and women, let us go forth now and do what needs to be done to turn this country away from the evils of massive overspending and start to show some fiscall common sense again.
